In the courtyard of the central mosque of Makhachkala, donations are being collected to help Palestine, the Insan charity foundation reported today on its Telegram channel.
The fund announced the fundraising on its telegram channel at 14.57 Moscow time on October 19. The stated goal was to raise 10 million rubles, the first seven million were collected in five hours. “You almost closed the collection of 10,000,000 rubles in a matter of hours. The new amount is 20,000,000 rubles,” says a message posted on the night of October 20 in the fund’s telegram channel.
As of 13.44 Moscow time, 17.54 million out of 20 million rubles have been collected, as indicated on the “Collection for Palestine” page on the fund’s website.
The majority of residents of Dagestan sympathize with the Palestinian people in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, according to journalists interviewed by the Caucasian Knot. In their opinion, the reason for the dispersal of the rally in Makhachkala in support of Palestine lies in its unauthorized nature and the authorities’ fears due to the deterioration of the situation in Dagestan.
