| IDF, police say they foiled attempt to smuggle explosives from Jordan to West Bank |

| [IsraelTimes] The military and police announce that earlier this week, security forces foiled an attempt to smuggle bombs over the Jordanian border, believed bound for terror groups in the West Bank. According to a joint statement, on Sunday, coppers and IDF soldiers located a suspicious bag on the border. Upon further inspection, it was revealed to contain six bombs. No suspects were caught in the attempt. The incident follows recent attempts to smuggle Iranian-made bombs, which appear to be knockoffs of the American Claymore mine, over the Jordan border and into Israel and the West Bank. "Israel Police and the IDF will continue to act with determination to detect and thwart any intention to smuggle weapons by hostile terror elements abroad, which endanger the security of the State of Israel and its citizens, and to prosecute these operatives" the joint statement says. |
