New Mexico Democrat governor issues public health order temporarily suspending open and conceal carry laws in Albuquerque |
2023-09-09 |
[BLAZE] New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham announced in a media briefing Friday afternoon that open and conceal carry laws in the city of Albuquerque and the surrounding county were being suspended for 30 days. The Democrat said that several incidents involving young children being shot led her to announce the emergency public health order. Senate Republican Leader Greg Baca lambasted the governor for the order. "A child is murdered, the perpetrator is still on the loose, and what does the governor do? She throws the mayor of Albuquerque under the bus and then targets law-abiding citizens with an unconstitutional gun order," said Baca. "Tragically, this is what we have come to expect from an administration that refuses to take responsibility for the crime epidemic gripping our state. It is time for the governor to stop pointing fingers and admit that her soft-on-crime approach has failed and put the safety of all New Mexicans in great jeopardy." #14 Albuquerque has a fine tradition of people gathering at the square, especially weekend nights, for fight nights. To call them young children is pulling your wang. |

#10 /\ Ref #8: How about we see if we can simply embed the links. I'd go ahead and do it myself, but I'm away from my laptop, on a short break from mudding foking drywall. Thanks. |

#9 The Republic is finished. It was probably was finished long ago, but it is really showing its death rattle now. |

#8 Both the Albuquerque Police Chief and Bernalillo County Sheriff have used circumlocutions to say they will not enforce the edict: https://twitter.com/ABQPOLICE/status/1700349428006047820 https://twitter.com/BCSONM/status/1700326536266875221 |

#7 Unless a "crapton" of openly rmed citizens drive a convoy through Albuquerque this weekend, openly disobeying the runt-Governor's tyrannical over-reach, this technique will pop up all over urban wastelands. The fraying of the rule of law continues my friend! |

#6 Appears the country is literally at a fork in the road. Freedom and liberty on one trail, totalitarian socialism on the other. If these SOB's cannot be stopped, the Republic is finished. Sadly, the Deep State quest for control of both the political process and the citizenry appears to be working. I am not hopeful. |

#5 re:#2 Legal muster is a myth. Until the tyrants that try this are becoming lamp-post decorations it doesn't matter a bit. |

#3 Does absolutely nothing to stop the miscreants and disarms the decent citizens of self defense. Spending 750k to 'study' the problem. The police chief said send me more prosecutors not this. We know what the underlying cause of the rise. Instead of this, if she had issued a 10pm-5am curfew for all those under 18 years of age it would shut down much of the problem. She had no problem with issuing a 2 week lock down fiat. |

#1 This will likely be followed by "temporary bans" on firearms ownership. Grisham will not be the last governor to "temporarily" restrict Second Amendment Rights. |
