Trump indicted for third time over efforts to overturn 2020 US election
2023-08-02
[GEO.TV] Former President Donald Trump
...Perhaps no man has ever had as much fun being president of the US...
has been indicted for the third time, this time around in connection with his efforts to overturn the 2020 election results.

Trump earlier made his expectations clear in a post on his Truth Social platform, where he accused special counsel Jack Smith of planning to release another "Fake Indictment" against him.

Trump said on his social media platform, "I hear that Deranged Jack Smith, in order to interfere with the Presidential Election of 2024, will be putting out yet another Fake Indictment of your favorite President, me, at 5:00 P.M. Why didn’t they do this 2.5 years ago? Why did they wait so long? Because they wanted to put it right in the middle of my campaign. Prosecutorial Misconduct!"

The pending charges come amidst a broader investigation into Trump's actions during and after his tenure as president. Special counsel Jack Smith is leading the probe, which also encompasses allegations of mishandling top-secret government documents while Trump was in office.

Earlier this year, Trump was hit with 37 counts related to alleged efforts to conceal these records from the government, and last week, he faced additional charges for allegedly attempting to delete surveillance footage from his Mar-a-Lago resort home.

This marks an unprecedented situation for a former US president, as no other past or current president has ever faced criminal charges. Despite the mounting legal challenges, Trump remains defiant and has pledged to continue his political pursuits even if convicted and sentenced. His campaign website features a quote asserting that the government's actions are aimed at stifling his candidacy.

The multiple investigations have been a focal point of Trump's fundraising efforts, with his political operation using the indictments to appeal to potential donors. However,
man does not live by words alone, despite the fact that sometimes he has to eat them...
Trump has consistently dismissed the investigations as a "witch hunt" orchestrated by an out-of-control government.

In addition to the pending charges related to classified documents and election meddling, Trump is also under investigation in Georgia for his alleged attempts to overturn President Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S. We hold these truths to be self-evident. All men and women created ... by the — you know — you know, the thing...
's electoral victory in that state in 2020.

#22  /\ Agree. Might be very difficult to bluff your way past Nunes.

#21  I would like to see someone like Nunes do his staffing. Trump seems to have kept him on staff for a reason.

#19  My support for Trump is from my desire to have this fight with our government now rather than kick the can down the road until we are worse off.
Certainly, Joe Biden is a tool of the Administrative State, but why would I believe that Asa Hutchinson or Nikki Haley would take on the corruption and change the system back to factory settings? They are part of the system. DeSantis staffed up with Bush guys, all the ones I used to cheer for. Electing Vivek would just be tossing another kamikaze against the embedded evil.
Nobody is saying that Trump is perfect or even good. Supporting him guarantees the fight that is our last best hope. This is a Pellenor Fields confrontation for our country.
The people that are currently wielding federal power are tyrants at heart. We don’t have great leadership. McCarthy is weak at best. Regardless, if the fight is not now, why would anyone believe that a Democrat Biden replacement wouldn’t just continue the same puppet dance. Armed by the Patriot Act and new technology, our enemies made continued progress even under Trump. A GOP President that does not dismantle the DS only worsens our situation. We must fight now.

#18  Agree with you Murcek and I have those feelings myself. But it’s not a path to solving the underlying issues.

#17  ^ Have to basically agree. The wildcard is, the more they persecute him, the more likely it is he will be the nominee, regardless of legal hocus-pocus. And he wasn't supposed to beat Hillary either.

A lot of people feel his raw deal is their raw deal. Beware their anger at that.

#16  This indictment is garbage just like the Maralago raid/document indictment is garbage. The Dems are seriously putting our country at risk. That said, both of these were totally avoidable. The trap the Dems were laying for J6 was there for anyone with eyes to see. It was a stupid play on Trump’s part. Remember all the comments here at the ‘Burg advising people to stay away as it would be overrun with Feds? Same thing with the documents. When told he needed to give them back, he should have done so, without argument. It is this lack of judgment, like with keeping Fauci on board, that makes me not want him to be the candidate again.

#15  Their idea is to bar him from running like Bolsonaro. If they can jail Trump, kill him or cause an insurrection that is just gravy.

In the end, this indictment will result in the J6 tapes becoming available to Americans and the Fed portion will become obvious.

Beyond the media blackout, the Biden corruption will unwind. Politicians will begin to retire. The impeachment process will be the “hard vote” situation that Mitch McConnell hates. Their statements on Trump, Biden, Covid or Ukraine will stir up the electorate against them. Many of them are as compromised as Biden in a less brazenly stupid way. The American will benefit from the painful process that has begun.

#13  How much clearer does this have to get. The coup was against Trump, and like some medieval country they are trying to kill the old leader. This has to stop before reasonable men rise to violence...

#12  All knew this was the sole purpose of the J6 show trials. This is the usual step commies take after stealing a nation.

#3  U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan, 61, from Kingston, Jamaica, was appointed to the bench in 2014 by then-President Barack Obama, is a Democrat and donor to the Democrat Party. Even after some prosecutors requested no jail time for some January 6 protestors, Chutkan jailed them anyway. She is a third world sh!t hole style thug.

#2  George Washington University Law School professor Jonathan Turley has posted at length about the perils of indicting Trump, namely that most of the charges he could face would be protected by the First Amendment, though he added that the temptation to indict Trump in DC—an anti-Trump bastion—might prove “irresistible” for the Justice Department. Not surprising, but nice timing, Hunter, and that's why I am still drinking Tullamore Dew (Irish whiskey) so I can sleep.
