Thousands of protesters square off with cops at airport as masses rally nationwide
2023-07-12
[IsraelTimes] Demonstrators spill out of protest areas at Ben Gurion Airport; 77 arrested nationwide; hundreds at US mission call for support; police block marchers from Tel Aviv highway

Thousands of anti-government protesters massed at Israel’s main airport, and blocked streets with large rallies in Tel Aviv and in other cities across the country on Tuesday, as nationwide demonstrations erupted in response to the government advancing part of its judicial overhaul legislation a day earlier.

While the protests were overwhelmingly non-violent mostly peaceful — as was the case in previous anti-overhaul demonstrations — 77 people were arrested throughout the day. Most of the detained were for blocking roads and other violations of public order, but police alleged that some of the suspects assaulted officers.

#5  Something that clutters who the "classic" definitions of economics is too much emphasis on who "owns" property/properties. The bureacratic state has ably demonstrated that it can *control* property while still pretending to allow "private ownership" by simply issuing an endless stream of "regulations" and decrees.

Is it really a "private" business if practically everthing about how it operates is ruled with an iron-clad fist by unelected clerks?

#2   And the cornerstone of that assertion is the question of property/tangible asset ownership by the individual.

"All property is subject to sovereign control by some human being. Someone somewhere has the ultimate decision-making power. When the claimant to property has paid for the property in full or has rightfully acquired the property through first claim, sovereign control rightfully belongs to him. If a man or an agency exists to which the owner must repair for permission to use his property as he wishes, or to dispose of it as he sees fit, then in fact he is not the sovereign owner, but some other man or agency has sovereign control."

#1  Chanted Democracy, meant it only for their side, not the rest of the citizenry. --Trailing Wife
An interesting video proposed that there are basically only two forms of government for humans: Republics (the Rule of Law applies to everyone) and Oligarchy (the powerful are the law) with 'Democracy' being an unstable state normally ending in oligarchy...
