"I'm Wondering What's Going On with Your Campaign?… What Happened?" – Maria Bartiromo Corners Ron DeSantis in Sunday Interview (VIDEO)
2023-07-10
[Gateway] Governor Ron DeSantis joined Maria Bartiromo on Sunder Morning Futures this morning.

Maria did not hesitate to ask the hard questions. Maria cornered Governor DeSantis on his stalled out campaign. DeSantis has failed to put a dent in President Trump’s huge lead in the GOP presidential primary.

Governor DeSantis dismissed claims of a stalled campaign, attributing them to media narratives that seek to undermine his candidacy.

"I’m wondering what’s going on with your campaign? There was a lot of optimism about you running for president earlier in the year, but here’s this weekend’s headline from the Politico playbook, "FAILURE TO LAUNCH — Florida Gov. RON DeSANTIS’ campaign to topple DONALD TRUMP has stalled." We are way behind, says a top DeSantis PAC official, sounding the alarm. What happened?" asked Maria Bartiromo.

#11  I think it would be fun to have a Kennedy-Kennedy ticket as a bi-partisan independent party- Louisiana Sen. John and Bobby Jr.

#10  We have a problem with unelected officials subverting the Constitution. DeSantis would reverse many of Biden’s policies. That would be great, but we need someone turning over tables and cleaning house. Certainly, Trump did not do that the first go round, but a Karl Rove guy is definitely not going to do that.

#9  I think he is a good guy. I worry that the guys pushing him forward are the guys I want gone.

Pretty good summation there. For me, an endorsement by Karl Rove is a big problem.

#8  The fact the Trump is so reviled by the media and persecuted by DoJ is exactly what makes me want to vote for him. I said it when he first ran in 2016: He is pissing off all the right people. DeSantis is good at pissing off the Pride people but he has yet to be vilified and persecuted at anywhere near the same level as Trump.

#7  The man is not a gifted orator. The more DeSantis engages, the less he is like. Often he sounds like he is reading off an Anchorman Script.

#5  I haven't met one Floridian yet who wants him to run for president and would rather have him stay in Flaw-id-a.

I think that wouldn't be a bad idea.

#4  Yes, the "secret sauce" of leadership vibes cannot be bought with campaign contributions. Walker was an apt comparison, very successful at the state level, but that was his ceiling.

#3  Like Scott Walker before him. Someone who would likely do a great job but didn't understand how to win at the national level.

#2  What happen was he did what most front runners do and take the support of the establishment. Trump made the same mistake when selecting his cabinet. The two most popular candidates and the two least liked by their party leaders are Trump and Kennedy.
