| GOP hopeful Tim Scott hits back as Obama critiques stance on race relations: 'No higher compliment' |

Tim Scott on Sunday dismissed Barack ObamaI think when you spread the wealth around, it's good for everybody... ’s recent attack on him as a "compliment" — and a sign that Democrats "feel threatened" by his candidacy. Last week, Obama chided Scott’s stance on race relations, saying "there’s a long history of African-American or other minority candidates within the Republican Party who will validate America and say, ’Everything’s great, and we can make it.’" Scott (R-SC) brushed off the criticism, telling "Fox News Sunday," "There’s no higher compliment to be attacked by President Obama. The Halfrican "Whenever the Democrats feel threatened, they drag out the former president and have him make some negative comments about someone running, hoping that their numbers go down. The truth of my life disproves the lies of the radical left." Scott has publicly reflected on his experiences with racism and has recounted getting stopped by security on his way to work in the Senate seven times within a year despite being a sitting senator. Republican presidential candidate Sen. Tim Scott, R-SC, brushed off former President Obama’s criticism, telling "Fox News Sunday," "There’s no higher compliment to be attacked by President Obama." Afterward, he moved to Indonesia, returned to Hawaii, and attended a prestigious private school. Barack Obama has decided to call out Senator Tim Scott for dismissing America as a racist nation. Tim Scott grew up in the heart of the Confederacy — Charleston, SC — and was raised in working-class poverty as the descendant of slaves and went to public schools. Barack Obama is a descendant of Irish settlers on his mother’s side, and his father is from Kenya. Tim Scott is the descendant of slaves on both sides. It is really notable that Obama and Scott are both from broken homes, but the one who got to travel the world and go to a private school in Hawaii wants to lecture the South Carolina descendant of slaves about race and opportunity in America. |

| #2 This seems like an undercard to me. Obama is relevant if he has Biden’s strings, but his is not running for anything. Tim Scott is riding in the peloton at this point. |
