#13  Fresh, non-GMO food, home-cooked, few microwaves (if any...TV dinner from the oven was about it), more activity, few computers and no 250 channels on cable TV....sigh. (P.S. - And a suspect pharmaceutical industry that wants people unhealthy.)

#12  I watch an original lynard skynard vid from 77 from a concert in san fran, not one fatass in the crowd.

I'm pretty sure it's this one. I thought about this angle for a while - there's no way I could imagine this taking place now.

#11  And don’t forget that if you acted up, ANY of the neighbor parents were deputized by your biological Parental Units to administer whatever level of corrective action was deemed required.

#8  Born in 1949 here. The 50s were a really great time to be a kid.

And, best of all, no activists, no feminists, no environmentalists, no 24-hour news cycle, etc. A much simpler and happier time.

#7  I was watching a Film Noir not too long ago, so like 1930s.

Larger gent in the show:
"Nobody likes a fat man but his grocer and his tailor."

Dude is nothing compared to today; would easily fit in a, 1, airline seat.

#5  ..its interesting. If you look at the old black and whites back at the start of the 20th century, the rich were fat and the poor were thin. Now its the poor who are fat and the rich pay nutritionist, trainers, and surgeons to stay thin.

#3  Bring back Soft Drink Bottle Deposits.

As a Kid, when I wanted an RC and a Moon Pie or Honey Bun I was told go walk the ditches.

We walked many a roadside ditches picking up deposit bottles to earn my snacks. It taught us the meaning of earning it, instead of getting a handout every time I wanted something more than I needed.

It also taught us kids, the level of effort our parents put in, to put food on the table and roof over our heads.

#1  Also watched colorized film on youtube. What is striking is how 'thin' people were back then.
