No Party Through Which We Can Repatriate ISIS Families In Syria – Morocco’s FM
2023-02-25
[NPASyria] On Thursday, the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs said there was no party in Syria to negotiate with in order to repatriate Moroccans affiliated with Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) who are held in the war-torn country.

However,
nothing needs reforming like other people's bad habits...
the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) has time and again called on the international community and countries who have ISIS nationals in North and East Syria to repatriate them.

In November 2022, Co-chair of IDPs and Refugees Office of the AANES, Sheikhmous Ahmad, renewed the call for countries to repatriate their nationals of ISIS families held at the region.

The Moroccan Foreign Ministry added the issue of repatriating Moroccan ISIS families is a shaky one. It is not easy to find a quick solution particularly for those held in Syria as there is no party to hold talks with.

The statement was made by the ministry following a sit-in organized by the families of Moroccans stranded and detained in Syria, Iraq in front of the ministry building.

During their sit-in, the families of those detained demanded relevant authorities expedite the repatriation of their family members and bring them to justice, according to Moroccan newspaper Hespress.

The newspaper said that Moroccan officials themselves stressed that Morocco is counting on settling this issue through the Iraqi government, which will assist the Moroccan government to settle the issue in Syria after finishing it in Iraq, which also have many ISIS-affiliated Moroccan nationals.

Mariam Ziron, general writer for the National Coordination for Families of Moroccans, revealed during the sit-in that "a number of women contacted the coordination and revealed that they fled camps after the earthquake."

She added, "They and their children are currently living in difficult conditions in light of the bitter cold and the fallout of the disastrous earthquake which hit the region."
