BABY SCAR! The FN SCAR 15P Is Coming To The Consumer Market
2022-12-14
[ The Firearm Blog] A little over five years ago, FN announced the SCAR-SC Subcompact Carbine to military and law enforcement customers, and ever since then, the crowd has been chanting for a civilian version. Affectionately known as the Baby SCAR, the FN SCAR 15P has just been released to the U.S. market in pistol form, chambered in 5.56x45mm with a barrel length of 7.5". For customers who plan to make a short barrel rifle through the Form 1 process, stocks will be available for purchase separately. Additional information can be found below.

#8  I think it is cute. Looks to be just the thing for an urban drive-by shooting.

#7  Plus the DSA SA-58 is less than half the price of this FN model, MM.

#6  BTW: Skidmark answer to your yesterday comment/question.

My Delta Elite 10mm is the US Government Model Stainless Steel field weapon tested by the Fed's, and it came with old style wood grips.

It failed the 1990s Fed Eval, because the Female agents had a hard time with the 22lb slide cocking spring. The 200+ grain bullet at 750 to 1100+/-fps depending on load used, delivers about 2x the ft/lbs per sq/inch of a 9mm.
So no need to double tap.

I quickly replaced wooden grips with Packmar's, to cushion the impact of firing it.

But alas, as I got older, I admit, I converted it to a 40cal and dig custom trigger job on it.

#5  A pistol is a pistol and a rifle is a rifle. Use the most appropriate weapon at the proper time. I was amused by Ian' problems with a Evaluating the Modern Stocked Pistol: USW-320 at Desert Brutality 2022(Forgotten Weapons.com video). Watching the bullet impacts scatter all around the small target at 100 yards ...*Snicker*

#4  Well, I've got a DSA SA-58 pistol. FAL. It makes all the tacticool boyz with their PCCs step lively, regardless how heavy it is.

#2  Never understood the rationale - too heavy and awkward to use accurately as a true pistol and if you're going to add an arm brace just get a damn carbine, facryinoutloud.

#1  Looking at it, I see little more than a street sprayer.
Not a weapon to aim and shoot accurately.
