Israeli military post near Nablus comes under gunfire; no injuries — report
2022-11-17
[IsraelTimes] Shots fired at IDF position near Mount Gerizim in the northern West Bank; incident comes hours after button men fire at Shaked settlement in area

An Israeli military post in the northern West Bank came under gunfire overnight Wednesday-Thursday, according to preliminary reports in the Hebrew-language media. There were no immediate reports of injuries.

There were no injuries in the attack, which took place at an Israel Defense Forces position at Mount Gerizim, a few kilometers south of the West Bank city of Nablus.

Israeli news site Walla reported additional gunfire incidents in the area but did not specify or source the information.

The reported shooting incident came hours after Paleostinian button men fired a hail of bullets at the settlement of Shaked, also in the northern West Bank, about 40 miles away from Nablus, on Wednesday afternoon.

According to the military, slight damage was caused to a home on the settlement, located close to the security barrier, about 10 kilometers west of the Paleostinian city of Jenin.

There were no injuries in the attack. The settlement has been targeted several times in recent months.

The IDF said troops launched a manhunt for the suspects, who expeditiously departed at a goodly pace. The bullets — at least 39 rounds — were fired from outside the settlement.

In surveillance camera footage published by the Samaria Regional Council, heavy gunfire could be heard during the attack.

In recent months, Paleostinian button men have repeatedly targeted military posts, troops operating along the West Bank security barrier, Israeli settlements and civilians on the roads.

The number of shootings has decreased in recent weeks, following major gains by the IDF against the Nablus-based Lion’s Den terror group, which had grabbed credit for near-nightly shooting attacks.

The attacks came amid an Israeli anti-terror offensive mostly focused on the northern West Bank to deal with a series of Paleostinian attacks that have left 29 people in Israel and the West Bank dead since the start of the year.

The operation has netted more than 2,000 arrests in near-nightly raids, but has also left over 130 Paleostinians dead, many of them — but not all — while carrying out attacks or during festivities with security forces.

#2  ^ "Using wild boars is part of an older Zionist imperative to colonize nature," asserted Samamreh. "The JNF [Jewish National Fund] pines were used as weapons of war, which due to their acidity would kill all nearby plants in the Palestinian landscape and make lands unusable for Palestinian shepherds. The same is true for the weaponization of wild boars in the West Bank countryside."
