Austin, Texas mayor forced to apologize after appearing to FALL ASLEEP during the funeral for city police officer who died in tragic motorcycle crash

  • The moment was caught on camera and posted to social media with the photo showing the mayor with his eyes closed and his head to his chest

  • The memorial service was for Austin police Officer Tony Martin, who died last month in a motorcycle crash on his way home from working a night shift

  • The photos were shared by Justin Berry, an Austin officer and a former political candidate who twice ran for a legislative office as a state representative

  • He wrote: 'If you're going to defund and destroy a police department as their mayor then attend a highly respected officer's funeral, perhaps do not continue to disrespect that officer's family, friends, and other officers by falling asleep'

  • In his apology, Adler neither confirmed nor denied he had fallen asleep
