[SAHARAREPORTERS] It was gathered that button men in the early hours of Friday rubbed out one Sunday Izhikpa, who was a member of the Southeast outfit at his duty post in the community.It is not yet clear why he was killed but Peoples Gazette reported that a resident of the area, Victor Ogbaga, told newsmen in Abakaliki, the state capital that the dear departed was a native of Nduakparata Igbeagu in the same local government area.
Ogbaga was quoted as saying that "He was killed by the button men at his duty post, Mkpuma Ekwa-oku in Izzi, adding that the corpse of the victim has been evacuated from the scene, where he was murdered this morning."
The Ebonyi State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Chris Anyanwu, also confirmed the killing, saying that the victim was shot in the early hours of Friday.
The police spokesperson said, "Yes, I have called a personnel of Ebubeagu and he said that the attack was true."
