2022-06-10
Welcome to Summer 22.
[FoxBusiness] Texas Gov. Greg Abbott signed two bills into law last June aimed at strengthening the state's power grid.

#12  Yeah, but it's still hot.

#11  #9 - Asphalt Concrete should be placed no colder than 265 degrees F ....

#10  Don't forget positioning monitoring stations right next to air conditioning units (- which are next to asphalt parking lots).

#9  I remember seeing a local weather temperature report that looked really skewed.

Turns out that weather monitoring station was getting a new asphalt parking area all around it that day (yes, 8" of hot tar).

#8  Urban Heat Sink data has long skewed the whole global climate modeling process. The rural area/remote monitoring stations are far fewer, and the far more numerous 1st world monitoring stations have a proximity bias to altered terrain that is impossible to accurately model out. Then you add in financing bias as an inherent component of scientific research, and poof...Bob's your Uncle.

#7  Heat islands created by uncontrolled development, housing built on top of other housing (urbanization), among many man-made contributors to heat measurements that provide 'dire' projections and readings. BTW, there is a reason the Mediterranean types have siestas (for centuries).

#6  It’s amazing how much hotter the thermometer reads when measured on top of a flat tar roof or next to a concrete parking lot instead of adhering to the defined standards. According to Watts Up With That, as of this May 95% of the temperature stations in the US are incorrectly sited, causing them to read higher than the actual temperature. Another article on the site points out that Australia is having the coldest winter since 1904, while a quarter of their power plants are shut down on orders of the government.

#5  Threaten to bring back the Ice House.

#4  Officials say it's been fixed, some people disagree.

My wife fusses at the weather 'record temperatures', but they also show the previous records for the day were 1938, 1936, 1911 ...
