#5 As someone else other than me said - the only ground we've asked for is a place to bury our dead. |

#4 Vet mentioned this day in history. Only person. Each year activity dwindles. For myself it is a part of my life. I see fewer Vets unfortunately. Still get a story now and then. I mentioned to Deacon about the water tight doors left open after inspection that day and only day. Vet today mentioned how the ships were lined up for a convenient booming run by Japan. Second attack was missed fortunately. |

#3 We visited there in 1995 or ‘96 — meticulously cared for then, too. |

#2 When I was there in 2016, the cemeteries were meticulously maintained. We had a guided tour on Omaha Beach and observed two machine gun nests on the bluffs with interlocking fields of fire. [shakes head] Not like The Longest Day. Guide picked up several pieces of cordite on the beach and bluffs and said a recent analysis of the beach sand showed it was composed of (I don't remember exactly) 5% steel. |

#1 What would have been my other Uncle (Yankee Div Artillery corporal) died in France. He was killed by a German 88 round in early July 1944. He is buried there. I wonder if France still takes care of the US Military graves, like they did in the 1960's? BEFORE they went Socialist and Pro-Russia. |
