What kind of moron uses First Name + Initial as a nick, anyway? Besides, rumor has it that Frank knows algebra, if you know what I mean.

#39  #31 Don't worry about the dollar
It matters if a nation's policies are based on global trade flows that leave the nation with enormous trade deficits and 30 trillion in debt.

US imports from China are now twice what they were under Trump: about $700 billion annually. The US trade deficit was out of control before Biden. Now it's astronomical.

#38  Also, it's human nature to be loath to admit an obvious mistake, and nobody is more human (in their own mind) than a liberal. My staunch democrat neighbor is reduced to grinding his teeth anytime the discussion comes around to gas, food prices or world affairs and I cheerfully drawl, "Well, you voted for that..."

#37  *shrug* Rantburg has watched the G kids grow up, just as they watched the trailing daughters. While I’m sure it was very rewarding for someone to help rehabilitate the younger Mr. Biden, we here did not have that pleasure. Though we have indeed converted an idiot or two to delightful sensibility over the years, to our mutual benefit.

I don't understand why so many Americans support Biden. He's obviously running America into the ground.

Obviously, indeed. According to the polls, it’s just that the decreasing number who support President Biden is increasingly loud. Also, the original number of his supporters was inflated by all those imaginary Americans who voted in key states, and key precincts in those states in 2020. Millions of them have been removed from the voter rolls since then, and in a number of states the registration and voting procedures tightened up since then.

#32  #28 Don't the Bidens have a cousin named Frank? Just sayin'...

Frank is Joe's little brother.

Joe Biden’s brother, Francis ‘Frank’ Biden, 66, won the prize for the most bizarre Biden family bust when he allegedly stuffed two DVDs from a Florida Blockbuster down his pants in October 2003, cops said. He was 49 at the time. He never showed up for a scheduled court hearing on the attempted theft and the state attorney declined to prosecute, according to records obtained by the Miami New Times.

He had more serious scrapes with the law. He was pinched in August 2003 for drunk driving in Fort Lauderdale, earning six months probation. He was arrested a year later for driving with a suspended license but avoided jail again by spending three months in rehab.

In 1999, Biden was a passenger in a car involved in a fatal drunk-driving accident. He was found partially liable for the death of 38-year-old William Albano, and owes his family almost $1 million dollars, according to the Daily Mail.

Today, Frank Biden works as a senior advisor to the Berman Law Group. He did not respond to request for comment, but has said previously that he has been “sober for a long time.”

It matters if a nation's policies are based on global trade flows that leave the nation with enormous trade deficits and 30 trillion in debt.

Hermit kingdoms can't rely on other nations to pay their bills and fund their profligate spending. Shrink the trade deficit and the debt to zero before that even becomes more than a pipe dream.

Had no problem taking aid when the Germans attacked in 1941. Same issue, it just different who the invaders are (no matter what rationale you use to justify it).

I don't care. America doesn't have an extensive border with China.

Don't worry about the dollar. America can become a 'hermit kingdom', it has all the resources to do so, only prevented in using them by internal enemies. American's have a habit of exhausting all options before doing the right thing.

Why are they so butt hurt about Russia? Prolonging the war is just going to ruin the US economy and make Americans poorer. Aside from Japan no one outside Europe supports these sanctions. Everyone's trading with Russia, even the Europeans. Why are Americans letting Biden do this? It's crazy

"Frank G" is a fool. (As if first name plus initial isn't anonymous.) Anyone can see the Biden family's corruption and Joe's stupidity and incompetence. It doesn't make you a troll to point out how Biden's self-destructive policy of prolonging the war and pushing these futile and foolish sanctions are just screwing Americans and helping China

#18  If we can keep the war going another 6 months the reconstruction bill will total $500 billion.

People in Washington want the war to go on for at least a year. By then Ukraine will look like Germany in 1945. Reconstruction will cost the US and the West over $1 trillion.

Along with sanctions, the debt explosion to fund Ukraine is another reason the dollar is going to be blown out. Goodbye reserve currency status.

Is Biden getting ready to profit personally from Ukraine reconstruction? Certainly a much bigger opportunity for graft than Burisma.

What Happened on the Junket To China in February 2020?
BY JEFFREY A. TUCKER
APRIL 12, 2022

Why was the US so quick to adopt the tactics and strategies of the Chinese Communist Party?

To what extent did Fauci & Co's “joint mission” to several cities in China in mid-February 2020 influence that decision to mimic China's disastrous approach?

$100 billion... so far. Afghanistan cost us more than that.

Putin's just getting started. If we can keep the war going another 6 months the reconstruction bill will total $500 billion.

= More stimulus! Not for us, but don't worry, it's all good

#12  Russia dominates the Black Sea ports. Chinese container ships can store Russian grain and so forth indefinitely. Trade will be done in renminbi backed by Russian oil and gold.

In other words, Russia's winning the economic war.

Russia can keep selling its oil, wheat, coal, fertilizer, and metals while Ukraine's infrastructure is wiped out, it's landlocked and has no way to ship anything even if it's factories farms and distribution were not in ruins, and the West now has to pick up the $100 billion rebuilding tab.

#10  #8 ^ Nations have no friends, only shared interests

True. This explains why the non-western world is now coming together to support alternatives to the dollar and dollar blackmail. If the US is determined to destroy the trading and payments regime that it created and upheld for 49 years, then China, India and Russia will be more than happy to help. Commodities rule.

Keep the war going, the longer the better ... for China.

#9  The PBoC will clean up the mess and a commodities-backed renminbi will become the basis for a new world financial order.

Good call. The Fed jumped in and 'cleaned up the mess' after Lehman and Bear Stearns fell. This time the PBiC will jump in and lease enough ships to absorb all of Russia's commodities so the market can stabilize.

Russia dominates the Black Sea ports. Chinese container ships can store Russian grain and so forth indefinitely. Trade will be done in renminbi backed by Russian oil and gold.

#7  The next crisis will be bigger than 2008.

Or 1973. Except 1973's meltdown was driven by a suppliers' strike. This is a demand-side strike. The US is strangling itself this time. Instead of sovereigns jumping to stabilize demand, the US and western sovereigns are doing everything they can to throttle demand - for all commodities. Unbelievable
