Watershed moment in NYC: New law allows noncitizens to vote
2022-01-10
Thereby erasing any difference between cititzen and non-citizen.
[APNEWS] More than 800,000 noncitizens and "Dreamers" in New York City will have access to the ballot box — and could vote in municipal elections as early as next year — after Mayor Eric Adams

allowed legislation to automatically become law Sunday.Opponents have vowed to challenge the new law, which the City Council approved a month ago. Unless a judge halts its implementation, New York City is the first major U.S. city to grant widespread municipal voting rights to noncitizens.

More than a dozen communities across the U.S. already allow noncitizens to cast ballots in local elections, including 11 towns in Maryland and two in Vermont.

Noncitizens still wouldn’t be able to vote for president or members of Congress in federal races, or in the state elections that pick the governor, judges and politicians.

The Board of Elections must now begin drawing an implementation plan by July, including voter registration rules and provisions that would create separate ballots for municipal races to prevent noncitizens from casting ballots in federal and state contests.

#10  Logically the existence of non citizen voters in municipal elections would absolutely necessitate voter ID for State and National elections.

Of course if you don't like logic then this doesn't matter.

#9  If the Supremes vote on it we can be sure either the country is doomed, or that Voter ID will be a thing across the nation to ensure citizenship (country saved).

#8  Don't know if they can get this to the Supremes in time for 2022 midterms but there should be plenty of time to clear this garbage by 2024.

#6  Next up: Only non-citizens can vote.

#5  At the state level it should be straightforward to invalidate entire precincts & cities (like NYC just volunteered to do), unless Dem. state legislatures okay the electors. The real problem becomes when a state sends an entire slate of electors with tainted votes from their largest city / cities.

#4  Day is coming where a lot of electoral votes will be disqualified because of this nonsense. It will be fun to watch.
