AP tosses race card into game on 6 Jan anniversary |

WASHINGTON (AP) — Rep. Cori Bush is no stranger to protests. She spent years marching the streets of St. Louis and Ferguson, Missouri, rising to public office on the strength of her activism. But as the Missouri Democrat looked out the window of the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021 — only her third day as a member of Congress — she knew what was about to take place would be no peaceful protest. The Confederate flags in the crowd, and the makeshift noose and gallows erected on the Capitol grounds, spoke to a more sinister reality. "I’ve been to hundreds of protests and have organized so many protests, I can’t count. I know what a protest is: This is not that," Bush, who is Black, said recently in an interview with The Associated Press. The insurrection by pro-Trump supporters and members of far-right groups shattered the sense of security that many had long felt at the Capitol as rioters forcibly delayed the certification of Democrat Joe Biden’s election victory. But for people of color, including many in Congress, the attack was more than a violent challenge to a free and fair election — it was an eerily familiar display of white supremacist violence, this time at the very seat of American democracy. |

#11 Ted Cruz is groveling now. He joins Pence, Nikki Haley and a few others who will be laughed out of the 2024 nomination process early. |

#9 Most bang for the buck on a false flag today would be if something unfortunate happened to that veep they are trying to dump. |

#8 F--king projection from a mendacious thuggish lefty clown. Of course a left-wing agitator like Gory Bush knows all about violent protest theater -- her comrades' fave symbol for the last five years, from Portland to Bush's St Louis to Washington DC, has been the guillotine. #7 The Confederate flags in the crowd, ..and the General Lee, with Bo & Luke Duke doing donuts on the lawn - it was terrible! |

#5 Of course the people who historically had actually used gallows and nooses and such were.... wait for it... wait for it.... Democrats! |

#4 Hmmm. Didn't some lefties set up a fairly large facsimile of a guillotine in front of Bezos' home at some point? I really don't remember the media having a problem with that. Of course, no black people were symbolically menaced by that, so no harm, no foul. |

#3 the makeshift noose and gallows erected on the Capitol grounds, spoke to a more sinister reality. A sinister and much more imaginary reality. If such things were actually present, we would have been bombarded with pix, vid and commentary about them. She knows they were there because she remembers them being there. My guess is she saw a poster with the gallows and pasted it into her mental movie. It's not a lie if you really believe it. |

#2 The gallows were certainly make shift. The noose was small but obvious. It looked like it was made of something like wooden paint sticks. It could not have been used to hurt anyone, simply symbolic. I'm pleased her sense of security was shattered. Those black, white and Asian white supremacists really did a number on Karen Bush. |

#1 I don’t remember anything about a noose and gallows — have I forgotten or is this the first time it’s been mentioned? |
