Five world powers issue pledge to prevent nuclear war
2022-01-04
[DW] China, La Belle France, Russia, the UK and the US have agreed that a nuclear war "cannot be won and must never be fought."

The joint pledge was issued ahead of what was to be the latest review of the Treaty of the Non-proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT).
That’s nice. What impact will their solemn pledge have on the Mad Mullahs of Iran?

#3  Nice sentiments, but I seem to recall that the Kellogg-Briand treaty outlawing war in 1922 didn't work so well.

#2  Given that Hiroshima is in much better shape today than Detroit suggests that a little nuke war may not be such a bad thing. Time to reread Herman Kahn's On Thermonuclear War.

#1  India, Pakistan, North Korea and possibly Israel have nukes too, wonder why they were not invited?
