2021-12-14

  • 10 civilians - including 7 children - were killed by a Hellfire missile on Aug 29

  • Officials initially said it targeted a vehicle being used by suicide bombers

  • Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said it was a 'breakdown in process and execution ... not the result of negligence, not the result of misconduct'

#9  Yes, if the Japanese had won WWII, they'd have hanged LeMay.

Doesn't mean he committed war crimes.

#8  General LeMay said he'd be hanged for what he did to Japan if the roles were reversed. And he was right.

War crimes don't become good just because we do them.

#6  I read this to mean that they really wanted to hang a low-ranking drone operator, but the operator had receipts. "Sir, it says right here in the log that General Smith [REDACTED]."

#5  If we applied this same garbage in the 1940s, we'd be lucky to still be fighting WWII. Most likely we'd have lost.

#3  Strikes such as that are not the idle actions of some enlisted man behind a drone joy stick, they are authorized at the highly levels of the National Command Authority.

The Pentagon's statement merely indicates that no further investigative action will be undertaken. Shocking... no ?

#2  They built a war machine that kills innocent civilians as part of its normal operation.

Why is anyone surprised that it's killing civilians? Of course nobody will be punished. Nobody did anything wrong.
