#2 I'm a stamp collector, and Turkey is one of the countries I collect. The first-class postage rate in Turkey in 1985 was 100 Turkish lira (US was 22c). By 2000, the first-class rate in Turkey was 150,000 Turkish Lira. It peaked at about 250,000 lira in 2003, then they revalued the lira. Looks like they're going through the same inflation spiral once more. Remember, money is power, and the easiest way to destroy "old money" is through inflation. |

#1 annoyingly they don't tell you the actual rate back in Oct, it was about 8 TLira per one dollar, today it is about 11 TLira per one dollar more like plunging than sinking |
