#4 Baradar has had a history of intermittent discussions with the CIA. The CIA was instrumental in getting him released from US custody in 2018 (yes, under Trump). Burns is a deep State guy. He was a career diplomat for many years then a deputy Sec of State under Obama, and Pres of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace before becoming chief of the CIA. |
