#5 Many years ago I was the backup Network Eng. at Seymour Johnson AFB for the KC-130 Simulator One our contracted "tasks" ☺ was testing (flying) the KC-130 Boom/Bot Simulators. While there I got to see a Video of a inflight refueling accident. A refueling of a USAF F-4 jet between Iceland and Greenland. The hose kinked the jet pulled away and the hose filled the starboard side engine with JP fuel. Massive Backfire/ flames and etc... Needless to say the jet had issues and ditched. |

#4 /\ Probe and drogue system makes the following aircraft responsible for much of the "fiddly stuff" of refueling. Still, this could 'free' manned F/A-18s for strike missions instead of orbiting the carriers as tankers |

#3 So this unmanned craft does the re-fueling role just fine but Boeing still has problems making the KC-46 boom work correctly. |

#1 Wondering out-loud if it can be adapted to be a Fuel-Air weapon? Imagine smaller 5 to 25 gal/pound field deployable versions hovering over a target vaporizing the fuel and igniting it. |
