Trump Vindicated as Judge Rules Michigan Secretary of State Violated Election Laws
2021-04-09
[PJ Media] A judge in Michigan has vindicated President Trump by ruling that Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, a Democrat, broke state law when she unilaterally changed election rules concerning absentee balloting in the 2020 election. This ruling legitimizes a key claim made by the Trump legal team in its challenges to the 2020 election.

A major change imposed by Benson was loosening the signature verification requirement for absentee ballots. Michigan Court of Claims Chief Judge Christopher Murray ruled that this change violated Michigan Administrative Procedures Act.

The court made the following conclusion:

#12   The reason for my confession is so I can tell what one of the professors said, "If you have left obvious questions unanswered in your report then you haven't done your job."

The best of ‘em answer the not-obvious questions as well, and write up their findings with grace and panache.

I find it fascinating how many Rantburgers, including several moderators current and former, have journalism training— and sometimes professional experience in the field as well. It can be good training to take into other fields, much like engineering and history.

#10  Thank you, tw and Besoeker. So I will confess I studied some journalism many, many years ago. The reason for my confession is so I can tell what one of the professors said, "If you have left obvious questions unanswered in your report then you haven't done your job."

I understand that real journalism has been largely abandoned in favor of blatant propaganda. I think that's not only sad but extremely dangerous.

#8  For Abu Uluque from some years ago, Matt Margolis’s biography at Townhall :

MATT MARGOLIS

Matt Margolis, 26, lives in the blue state of Massachusetts. After graduating high school he went to the University of Hartford to study architecture, and graduated summa cum laude and with University Honors in 2002.

In November 2003, Matt founded Blogs For Bush, which quickly became one of the top blogs during the 2004 campaign. Matt was one of the first bloggers to receive credentials to cover the Republican National Convention in New York City. Matt runs a number of other blogs, including GOP Bloggers, and Hub Politics, a blog devoted to Massachusetts politics.

Matt is currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Architecture, and works full-time as an architectural designer. He lives near Boston, MA.

So not a trained journalist, but an amateur blogger who became good enough to go pro.

#6  What is the penalty for this crime?

Seems like a perfectly valid question to ask. Did that not occur to the reporter? Did Matt Margolis go to school to learn journalism? If so, where? I don't think he got his money's worth for the tuition. I mean, I understand that PJ Media is a supposedly conservative outlet but when so-called journalists fail to even ask pertinent questions it makes me wonder. C'mon, young man. Can't you do any better than that?

#4  It's the same strategy the news has used for decades.
1. Make a bull$hit claim and talk about it for weeks
2. Make a correction on page 19 in small print after everyone has moved on to the next bull$hit claim knowing most won't update their mental picture of the world based on the retractions.

Works very well with the left. not so much with the right that is skeptical of crazy claims and has folks broadcasting these corrections throughout the right-wing media.

It's super effective brainwashing of the left with deniability.
