Newsom recall organizers submit 2.1 million signatures
2021-03-19
[THEHILL] Organizers of the effort to recall Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, Gov. Gavin can't be Bee'd Newsom
...mayor of San Francisco as it transformed itself into Poopville, currently governor of California as it transforms itself into Cinderland...
(D) submitted more than 2.1 million signatures to get the question onto a ballot later this year in the latest sign that the embattled governor will likely have to face voters in 2021.

Recall backers said Wednesday they submitted 2,117,730 signatures, far exceeding the 1.5 million needed by the Wednesday deadline. Supporters of recall efforts often submit hundreds of thousands more signatures than are needed in anticipation that some will be deemed invalid, but the California organizers appear to be comfortably above the signature threshold even if some are tossed.

"The people of California have awoken," said Randy Economy, a senior adviser to the recall effort.

#13  #11, 12 Yes. Newsom's appartchikc will sample for legit signatures and throw out EVERY possible one they can. So you come in knowing that and gather as many above the required as possible

#12  ^ to ensure it survives a challenge. Because only Democrat-recall petitions can be challenged

#11  Here's another thing - they had the 1.5 million signatures what, five or six weeks ago? Why doesn't reaching a threshold automatically trigger an election in sixty days? What's the freaking holdup, so Newsom can stay in long enough to max out his pension?

#10  There are scribes in Khalif Ornia,
dutifully forging signatures,
as we write.

You commented on the last election
under another comment,
this is but a continuation in miniature,
view Khalif Ornia as aview of the future.

#9  I shudder to think who the Dems will pick to win after the counting if Newsom loses, but signature verification may well be a very not-so-transparent process if I had to guess.

#8  Faulconer might be the best we can do...if we can even do that well. It's a long shot either way.

#7  John Cox lost by a considerable % to Newsom last time. He's spending a bunch on emails/ads, but he'd likely lose again. He needs to get out and let Faulconer or Grinnell go head to head with Newsom

#6  #3, the odds are not good but we do what we can and we hope and we pray.

#4  I just hope this one is as entertaining as the Gray Davis recall in 2003.

#3  What are the odds the next CA guv will be any better than Newsom?

#2  California is poorly managed and in terrible shape. What are the odds Newsom will be replaced? The rest of us outside of California end up paying for their mismanagement and corruption. Much of the recent COVID stimulus bill money will go to California and other poorly managed blue states. Its everyone's problem.

If successful, Californians might consider Pelosi, Schiff and others who need replaced.

#1  "The people have awoken..."

More like, the Berserk Woke Madness has awakened the normal and reasonable tendencies latent within the majority.
