#1  Balata is the largest refugee camp in the West Bank. Established in 1950, it is adjacent to the city of Nablus. Balata Camp is densely populated with 30,000 residents in an area of 0.25 square kilometers. It was originally intended to serve 5000 Palestine refugees. It should have been closed years ago, but is home to a population that finds happiness in unhappiness.
