| How Liberals Can Destroy Football with COVID, and Why They'd Want To |

| [American Thinker] Scan the sports headlines, and it's not hard to see that the NFL and college football are increasingly in the crosshairs of the radical left's bid to take down America through COVID. And if recent history is any indication, Roger Goodell will soon fall all over himself to show that the NFL and he should be patted on the back by Dr. Fauci and the rest of the ruling class elites, in step with the leftist trends they all (wrongly) believe to be sweeping America. Football has always been reviled by the left. It is quintessentially American: invented in this country; played by high-testosterone, masculine men; and operating almost entirely as a super-competitive meritocracy — i.e., the test of whether someone gets to play in the NFL is whether he can play, and play better than the other guy. In the NFL in 2020, there's no time to humor racism or any other "ism" in fielding a winning team; there's only the all-defining imperative priority to put the best players on the field and "coach 'em up" to play the game well. All of those attributes of the sport are precisely why it has been so popular in America; it has been aligned with American cultural norms and preferences for decades. The sport's popularity is in fact proof that America as a whole is not racist — systemically or otherwise. Americans don't root for their team or watch the NFL in huge numbers based on a team's compliance with racial hiring quotas; they root and watch because they appreciate the best playing the best using talents that most of us don't have, and deciding on a level playing field who wins a competitive game and who loses. That's the essence of free people — players and fans and owners and broadcasters and advertisers — enjoying free markets. And that's what the left hates. |

| #17 National Felons League can go under for all I care. From what I understand, Super Bowl viewership has been declining (include me in that). And over-exposure can't help. Now three scheduled games on Thanksgiving...a game on Thursday...Sunday night. But go ahead and play games every night. I don't care. |

| #16 I remember an article a few years back (10? summavabich) About someone who used to go to Patriots games back in the day. All grown up, he went to a game, and cheered. Said he got the stink eye from the regulars who viewed it as more an event, like cheering during a movie and getting shushed. |

| #13 Its not about the left folks. Its about the middle class. There is an effort to remove the middle class, and its working. COVID has closed most small businesses, projections are that over a third will not return. This causes a rift in the middle class, you either have a good paying job with a large company or you slide out of the middle class. Everything that the middle class enjoys, brew pubs, eating out with friends, football, basketball, all the local sports like softball are all gone. Once the middle class is destroyed we as a republic are through. There will be the upper class, and the sheep. But keep wearing your mask, stay at home, give all your rights away for security, and sit idle while the key to our republic - fair elections- is stolen. So again its not the left, its the global elites, in both parties that are driving this. |

| #12 Look around, football? yes. But anything of tradition that involves and encourages participatory social cohesion. Well, along with destroying small business and any semblance of social order. Why would anybody do such a thing? |

Come to think of it, has anyone seen Goodell and MA Gov. Charlie Baker in the same room at the same time? It would explain a lot. |

| #6 BLM'ers knew those signs were b.s. The National Felons League are more "sincere". Imagine, women in the front office now, on the pitch as referees, even as coaches on the sidelines. I guess its a time-old tradition: the Left (and others) hate success. Pro sports is less and less and less a part of my life. Even the NHL joined the PC fray. |
