California fears another record-setting heatwave, more fires |
2020-09-07 |
[DAILYTIMES.PK] This labour weekend, Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, is yet to face record-breaking temperatures and dangerous fire weather conditions, with the National Weather Service advising people to keep their water intake up and not venture out unnecessarily. "Saturday and Sunday will be about 20 to 30 degrees above normal across the entire area," Frank Fisher, an NWS meteorologist for the southern part of the state, told AFP. "By Monday, we should be 10 to 20 degrees above normal ... but still very warm and dangerous outside," he added. Fisher said temperatures are expected to peak to 108 degrees Fahrenheit (42.2 Celsius) in the Los Angeles area on Sunday and to 118 Fahrenheit (47.8 Celsius) further inland in Woodland Hills. Excessive heat warnings through the holiday weekend and possibly beyond have also been issued in other western states including Arizona and Nevada. The warm temperatures in California come as the state is recovering from another heatwave in mid-August and devastating wildfires that have burned some 1.5 million acres in the last three weeks. |

#13 CA needs enough power to handle the AC needs. And controlled burns when they are obviously needed. Not rocket science, but in a third world state. |

#11 How bout all that green renewable energy that isn't there or isn't usable? Dont you wish you had built a couple nuke plants for base load, and a couple Nat Gas ones for peak? |

#9 Yawn. This is an annual event. It's as predictable as winter snow in Alaska. |

#7 Maybe Kaliphateornia should burn the forest every year to clear the deadwood building up... Enough! The politicians should personally light the fires to make sure it's done right and maybe then the deadwood will be taken care of properly. |
