Dozens feared dead as Iranian destroyer accidentally SINKS one of the country's own warships after opening fire on it
2020-05-11
[Mail] An Iranian destroyer has reportedly opened fire on one of its own warships by accident, causing 'dozens of casualties'.

The friendly fire reportedly sank one of Iran's own warships in the Sea of Oman.

40 naval personnel are missing in the incident, according to local media reports this evening.

'The Jamaran is a Moudge-class frigate armed with 4 C-802 (Noor) anti-ship cruise missiles. This is likely what was launched,' they wrote on Twitter.

An unconfirmed video shows the evacuation of wounded sailors from the frigate on Sunday evening.

Other video purportedly shows two injured sailors being recovered by fishermen at sea.

#8  So the Jamaran now has the record of the highest tonnage sunk for an Iranian warship in the 21st Century? Do they get to paint a silhouette on the command tower?

#7  Sifting through all the garbage reporting, a missile, launched from the Jamaran (frigate) hit a support vessel Konarak. Konarak was positioning targets for Jamaran "but remained too close to one of them and was accidentally targeted, state-run media said."
Sounds like 'maybe' missile shifted lock after launch or just incompetent targeting. Also sounds like many kilometers spacing needed between target and target placer.
