Homeland Security Suspends Enrollment of New Yorkers in Global Entry
2020-02-06
[WSJ] The Department of Homeland Security is suspending enrollment in Global Entry and other trusted-traveler programs for New York residents in response to the state’s so-called sanctuary policies to safeguard immigrants from deportation, the acting chief of the department said.

Chad Wolf announced the decision in a Fox News interview Wednesday, a day after President Trump devoted several minutes of his State of the Union address to excoriating sanctuary jurisdictions, which limit law-enforcement cooperation with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Mr. Trump said such jurisdictions "release dangerous criminal aliens to prey upon the public," and called on Congress to pass a law imposing civil penalties on cities and states that decline to cooperate with federal immigration officials.

Mr. Wolf said in the interview that DHS will immediately stop accepting new applications from New York state residents to enroll or re-enroll in some of the agency’s trusted-traveler programs, including Global Entry, which affords participating U.S. citizens expedited entry into the U.S.

"This is obviously political retaliation by the federal government and we’re going to review our legal options," said Richard Azzopardi, a senior adviser to New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, a Democrat.

New York passed a law late last year permitting illegal immigrants to apply for driver’s licenses and shielding state driver’s license records from ICE and U.S. Customs and Border Protection, which administers several trusted-traveler programs.
Because California gave DL's to Illegals, I had to get a Real ID (birth cert., proof of residence, US Passport, etc.) or use my passport to travel to some states domestically. Not an issue

#2  Should require Real ID or passport to vote.

#1  Right answer. Make them (New York) bring their policies to court and get reamed.
