Afghanistan, India Formalize Extradition Treaty |
2019-11-26 |
[ToloNews] The Times of India reported that the treaty will enable India to extradite bully boyz of Pak origin who operate on Afghan soil. The acting minister of foreign affairs, Idrees Zaman, and the Indian ambassador in Kabul, Vinay Kumar, on Monday signed an extradition treaty between Afghanistan and India. The document was already approved and ratified by the relevant authorities of both governments, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement in New Delhi, India on September 14, 2016. Under this agreement, the two countries will be able to deliver a person accused of, or convicted of, committing a crime to the other country’s law enforcement. It is a cooperative law enforcement process that requires formal arrangements. India’s Embassy in Kabul in a tweet said that Ambassador Vinay Kumar and Acting Foreign Minister Idrees Zaman "took a step closer to cement bilateral relations" by ratifying the India-Afghanistan Extradition Treaty. The Times of India said that once the treaty is fully in effect, it will enable India to extradite bully boyz of Pak origin who operate on Afghan soil. |
