While isolating these bully boys, the Syrian Army will also be cutting off the It’s not clear what the Either way, the Syrian military has been looking for a way to force ...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire... to abandon their observation posts and this latest maneuver is successful, it might be deployed again in the near future. #3 What are the Turks trying to achieve there, again? They claim to want that much land in which to resettle the millions of Syrian refugees they’ve been hosting since 2011, Lex. It is merely incidental that much of that is Kurdish territory... |

#1 From the map this is a Turkish Observation Post at Morek where the highway north from Hama enters that salient. So, this looks more like a "line straightening" operation to move the front back from about 15 miles from Hama's center to about 23-ish miles. Hama is where the highways from the coast at Latakia meet the logistics route linking Aleppo to Damascus, by the way. |
