Revived Iranian destroyer to be equipped with vertical launch missiles
2019-08-06
[ALMASDARNEWS] A recently revived Iranian naval destroyer will be fitted with a vertical launch missile system, an Iranian commander stated, as reported by the Tasnim News Agency.
The tub haunts the Caspian Sea.
According to the commander of the Iranian Navy Rear Admiral Hossein Khanzad, the domestically-made Damavand destroyer, which crashed in January, will be returning to service soon and will possess a vertical missile system.

"The destroyer has been fully revived and this has been done in 18 months," the commander said on the sidelines of the opening ceremony of the Depth competition of the 2019 International Army Games on Kish Island in southern Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan, the abbreviation IRGC is a cognate form of Stürmabteilung (or SA), the term Supreme Guide is a cognate form of either Shah or Führer or maybe both, and they hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...

He went on to say that the destroyer has been equipped with advanced radar systems that allow it to reach distant targets.

"The destroyer has been equipped with new weapons and we are seeking to equip the Damavand destroyer with vertical launch missiles," Rear Admiral Khanzadi noted.

The Damavand destroyer crashed into a jetty on January 10, 2018, killing two sailors of the Iranian Navy. The accident occurred when Damavand was docking at port in Iran’s northern province of Gilan.

#3  If it is the same ship that ran aground and sank in Jan 2018, then it can't be healthy working and living surrounded by rust. Wonder how the equipment works after rusting for a year.

#2  Damavand destroyer = 1500 tons, the size of a WW2 American destroyer escort.

#1  The Caspian Sea has a lot of mineral and oil production possibilities. Russia and Azerbaijan also border the Caspian. So, there is some reason for Iran to have a Naval presence there.

Also, Russia's ships in the Caspian have been used to launch missiles at targets in Syria so Iran may want to do the same.

Of course, it helps if the ships you use don't sink.
