| Poll: Nearly two-thirds of Americans oppose DC statehood | |

[WASHINGTONEXAMINER] A new poll released by Gallup shows almost two-thirds of Americans saying they oppose making Washington, D.C., a separate state.
None of the major subgroups in the poll favored making D.C. a state, with support being highest among liberals at 40% and lowest among conservatives at 14%. | |

| #10 The government gave Arlington back to Virginia after the Civil War. They could give most of the District back to Maryland - make it part of Prince George's and Montgomery Counties. Keep the central federal district around the mall, with the Capitol, White House, monuments, etc as a FEDERAL district. Maybe then the people in the District could stop whining about "Taxation without Representation". |

| #8 Look up District of Columbia retrocession and read that since 1839 (!!) there have been proposals to dump that mess back in Maryland's lap. They are disenfranchised, fine!, they can become citizens of Maryland and Problem Solved! But that isn't what they want, obviously... |
