2019-05-06 |
[DAWN] There are two million people in Bloody Karachi ...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous... suffering from mental, emotional, intellectual or social adjustment disorders, says a senior psychiatrist. Explains a lot, doesn't it? And 300,000 of them are in need of urgent psychiatric / psychologist attention and are likely to become a permanent burden on society if not taken care of. Pakistain Association for Mental Health president Dr S. Haroon Ahmed shared these stats at a discussion on De-stigmatizing mental illnesses organised by the PAMH at the Arts Council on Saturday evening. |
