Syrian military says Israel is behind attack on Aleppo, several more sites targeted
2019-03-28
[MOBILE.ALMASDARNEWS] At approximately 11:00 P.M. (local time) this evening, several Arclight airstrikes targeted the Syrian military’s positions at the outskirts of Aleppo city.

According to the Syrian military, the aerial division of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) was behind this evening’s airstrikes that saw many sites targeted in Aleppo.

Following an attack on the Sheikh Najjar District in eastern Aleppo, the Israeli Air Force began targeting sites around the Nayrab Airbase and Aleppo International Airport.

The Syrian military said they managed to down several of the hostile missiles; however, they did say a number of other projectiles did reach their intended targets at Sheikh Najjar, Nayrab, and the Aleppo Airport area.

If Israel is indeed behind this attack, this would be the second time in the last year that they have launched airstrikes on the Aleppo Governorate.

Last year’s attack by the Israeli Air Force caught the Syrian military by surprise, as the former’s F-35 jets went undetected from the Lebanese border to the Aleppo Governorate.
The Jerusalem Post adds:
Ten people died and the city of Aleppo in Syria is in chaos due to the Israeli strike, the Syrian Human Rights Center reported on Thursday, Maariv reported.

Early reports suggest that ammunition warehouse were struck, it is unclear at this point if Syrian air defenses were engaged or not.

Separate reports said kabooms rocked areas near Aleppo, including an air base and possible storage warehouse linked to Iran.

Explosions were reported in Sheikh Najjar industrial area, at Nayrab air base and in Aleppo.

Electrical outage was also reported and drone activity over Leb at the same time.

It appears that the Arclight airstrikes continued for almost forty minutes as new kabooms were reported just before midnight.

This included an alleged fourth kaboom near Nayrab air base.

Previous reports on social media indicate the presence of Iranian forces at Sheikh Najjar and Nayrab airbase, two of the sites where kabooms were reported Tuesday night.
