2019-03-07 |
[gCaptain] A U.S. Coast Guard buoy tender carrying the Zulu King and Queen of Mardi Gras and other Zulu royalty crashed into a dock on Monday as it arrived in New Orleans for Mardi Gras festivities. A spokesperson for the Coast Guard told local media that all power had cut out as the vessel, USCGC Cypress, approached the dock on the Mississippi River. No injuries or pollution were reported. |

#2 Laugh. Sigh. That ramp's caught worse from the ferry (with me on it, even, once or twice). Brought to some trips on a nearby crossing, years ago, where the captain greased it in beautifully on the second or third or fourth try, falling a little less short each time. Probably more complicated than this (I think it was high water then, too), but a deckhand casually let on that the boat was only steering to port. Which seemed perfectly normal. |
