five Paleostinians who crossed into Israel from the southern Gazoo Strip on Sunday morning, the army said.

The suspects were arrested as they approached the security fence surrounding the coastal enclave, according to the Israel Defense Forces.

Initially, the military said the men were not found to be in possession of weapons. But upon further searches in the field, the suspects were later found to have been armed with a number of knives and a pair of wire cutters, the army said.

"The suspects did not damage the security fence," the army said.

The five were handed over to the Shin Bet security service for questioning.

In the West Bank, Israeli security forces arrested nine Paleostinian suspects over the weekend, the army said. The suspects were believed to be involved in terrorist activities, riots and low-level attacks like rock throwing, the IDF said. They too were handed over to the Shin Bet for questioning.

Residents of the Gazoo Strip have been known to seek to flee the Hamas, a regional Iranian catspaw,-controlled beleaguered enclave by crossing into Israeli territory. In some cases, they bring along knives and other weapons with the intention of being caught by the IDF and sent to prison, preferring incarceration in Israel to life in Gazoo.

In such cases, the Israeli military generally returns the Paleostinians to the Gazoo Strip.

The relatively large-scale breach of the Gazoo border fence on Sunday came amid heightened tensions between Israel and Hamas.

In recent days, Israel reportedly warned Hamas that it would launch a military campaign unless violence along the Gazoo border ends, irrespective of the upcoming April 9 election.

The message to the terror group was sent via mediators, including Egypt, Channel 12 (previously Hadashot) news reported Saturday night.

"Israel can make tough decisions during elections and is not afraid of a military campaign," Israel said in the message sent on Thursday.

Earlier on Saturday, Egypt reportedly agreed to permanently reopen its border crossing with the Gazoo Strip if Hamas restrains festivities with Israeli troops.

Lebanese TV airs footage of Gaza sniper shooting IDF officer in helmet

[IsraelTimes] A Hezbollah-affiliated Lebanese news outlet on Sunday broadcast previously unaired footage of the moment a Paleostinian sniper in the Gazoo Strip shot an Israeli officer in the helmet last month, causing him light injuries.

Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. terror group fired at the Paratroopers Brigade company commander during a riot along the southern Gazoo border. The bullet struck the officer’s helmet, which saved his life.

In the video, aired by al-Mayadeen, the officer can be seen firing his rifle from a berm across from the Gazoo border. A moment later, a gunshot is heard, and the sniper’s bullet is seen striking the serviceman’s helmet, sending up a cloud of smoke and debris. He then grabs his head and takes cover.

Speaking to the pro-Hezbollah news outlet, a spokesperson for the Paleostinian Islamic Jihad confirmed suspicions that the terror group’s military wing Saraya al-Quds was behind the attack.

Daoud Shehab told al-Mayadeen on Sunday that the terror group’s attack was "inevitable" after the officer shot at the rioters "because our blood is not cheap."

He said the goal of the video is to uncover some of Israel’s daily violations of Paleostinians "most basic human rights
...not to be confused with individual rights, mind you...
" and of "understandings" reached between Jerusalem and the Strip’s terror groups regarding a ceasefire agreement.

Shehab said there is "a consensus among the Paleostinian factions in responding to any Israeli aggression."

The injured officer was taken to Beerhsheba’s Soroka Medical Center for treatment. A cut on his head was bandaged, and he was released hours later, the hospital said.

#2  They have to differentiate that from the 'Graft/Payola' wing, Frank.

Oh, and the 'UN Wing'.

The military wing of a terrorist group? Seems redundant
