UNHCR: More than 5,000 people leave Venezuela daily

 High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), which highlighted an increase in the figures in important border ports such as the Colombian of Cúcuta.

The spokesmen of the organism of the UN indicated that the average of Venezuelan migrants colonists and refugees to other countries was reduced in December with respect to previous months but it has returned to rebound.

The High Commissioner points out that the number of registered migrants colonists may not reflect the real total, since many Venezuelans cross borders irregularly and there are no official figures for departures by Venezuela, Efe reported.

The UNHCR and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) reported in 2018 that the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean host 2.4 million Venezuelan refugees and migrants colonists, while another 600,000 are distributed in other regions.

The international organizations project that in 2019 another two million Venezuelans could leave the country due to the economic and political crisis.
