Michelle Obama: 'I still have imposter syndrome'
2018-12-04
[BBC] Michelle Obama has said she still feels "imposter syndrome", adding that "it never goes away", during a frank talk in London.

The former US First Lady was speaking at the Royal Festival Hall for a sold-out event that tens of thousands of people had tried to get tickets for.

She also recalled how the Queen had dismissed royal protocol as "rubbish" when the Obamas visited Windsor Castle.

She said she was panicking about how to act but the Queen said: "Just get in".

On Monday evening, Mrs Obama spoke to author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie at the Southbank Centre to promote her new autobiography Becoming.

More than 40,000 people had reportedly tried to get tickets online when the event went on sale.

And last month, her memoir broke sales records to become the best-selling book released this year, just 15 days after being published.

#12  Humble brag. But in her case, she should listen to her feelings.

#10  Her mom put on quite an entitlement show to the Chinese when Michelle, her mom, and the daughters visited China some years back. A source of US embarassment.

#8  Fortuntely, she is on the record as saying she loathes politics and has no interest in persuing a political career. This comports with my sense, over the years, that she despised all the politicians her husband necessarily spent time with, not to mention those dreadful voters she had to help him court.

#7  "And so the Queen says 'just get in, sit wherever' and she's telling you one thing and you're remembering protocol and she says 'Oh it's all rubbish, just get in'."

I like this ol' gal. She seems to be a spunky one.

As for "impostor syndrome", I suspect that comes from getting things like position, honors and rewards that you know you don't really deserve as they are not due to any effort on your part. Someone's Nobel Prize comes to mind.

#6  So do all the demoncrats. They are little more than fascists that play at being socialists.

#4  Mrs Obama told students: "I still have a little [bit of] impostor syndrome, it never goes away

There are good reasons for this.

Impersonating a woman? An American? An honest person?

#1  ...Bullsh!t.

From the way Mrs. Obama conducted herself while residing at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, I cannot avoid the conclusion that she considered her place in life her right and due. This is no more and no less than false humility to sell books.
