[ALMASDARNEWS] The commander of the Iranian Navy stated on Monday that his Persian Gulf nation will soon have a presence in the Atlantic Ocean.
According to state-owned IRNA, Brigadier General Hussein Khanzadi said Monday, "We have dispatched 58 flotillas to the Gulf of Aden in interacting with the international community in order to provide security for fat merchantmen so far."
"So far, flotillas have received many letters of appreciation in fighting piracy," he added, citing the effectiveness of the Iranian deployments.
"For the past 10 years, my colleagues have been on board in the seas and provide the security of barges," he added. |
