Somali, AU Forces Launch Joint Operation Against Al-Shabab In Bakool |

[RADIOSHABELLE] Somali national army [SNA] backed by African Union ...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful... [AU] soldiers have launched a joint offensive against al-Shabaab ... an Islamic infestation centering on Somalia... snuffies in Bakool region on Saturday, authorities said. The allied forces began clear-up operation aimed at beefing up the security and drive out al-Shabaab fighters in areas near Wajid town in southern Somalia. Local residents said there was an escalating tension as the snuffies are mobilizing for a counter-attack against the advancing Somali and AMISOM troops towards their bases. The troops have been on a mission to flush out Al-Shabaab from its remaining pockets in the south and central Somalia as the country is set to hold one person, one vote polls in 2020. |
