Civilian killed, another injured in armed attack, west of Anbar

Anbar (IraqiNews.com) A civilian was killed and another was injured in an armed attack carried out, west of Anbar province, a security source said on Monday.

Speaking to BasNews, the source said “armed militants attacked a house in Qaim town, located on borders with Syria, which left a civilian killed and another wounded, who was then taken to hospital for treatment.”

Security troops, according to the source, who preferred anonymity, “began an operation to look for the perpetrators who managed to escape to unknown destination.”

The source added that ‘terrorist motivations’ could be behind the attack.

Iraqi troops destroy five tunnels, detonate three bombs in Ramadi

Anbar (IraqiNews.com) – Iraqi troops destroyed on Monday five tunnels and detonated three explosive charges during a security operation in Ramadi city in central Iraq.

In a statement, a copy of which was obtained by Iraqi website Alghad Press, the Iraqi Security Media Center said that a joint force from al-Jazeera Operations Command launched a security operation in Ramadi city in Anbar.

“The troops managed to destroy five tunnels and exploded three bombs during the operation,” the statement read.

Anbar (IraqiNews.com) Three Iraqi army soldiers were killed and injured in a bomb blast, west of Anbar, a security source said on Tuesday.

“A bomb went off south of Qaim town, Anbar, on Tuesday,” the source told BasNews. “The blast left Col. Ahmed al-Lamy of the army’s eighth division, killed, and two others soldiers injured.”
