Eight Islamic State members killed in U.S. Coalition airstrike in Diyala
Diyala (IraqiNews.com) Eight Islamic State members, planning for a fake checkpoint, were killed in an airstrike by the U.S.-led Coalition in Diyala, the Security Media Center said on Tuesday.
In a statement, the center said, “based on intelligence information from the Counter-Terrorism Service, the Coalition jets carried out an airstrike targeting Islamic State pockets in Hamreen mountains in Kabashi region in al-Saadiya town.”
During the airstrike, according to the statement, “eight militants, planning for a fake checkpoint, were killed.”
IS commander responsible for preparing suicide bombers killed in Diyala
Baghdad (Iraqinews.com) – Iraqi police forces killed on Tuesday an Islamic State commander following fierce clashes in Diyala province, a police chief was quoted as saying.
“The IS commander was responsible for preparing suicide bombers to carry out terrorist attacks in the country,” Federal Police Chief Raed Shaker Jawdat told Baghdad Today website.
“The troops also destroyed an IS hotbed and seized a huge amount of ammunition and explosives, including two explosive belts, eight arms depots, six grenades and a mortar shell,” Jawdat added.
