Russia believes Kurds should play role in Syria’s future
2018-05-30
[ALMASDARNEWS] Russia believes that Syrian Kurds should participate in determining the future of Syria on a par with the other ethno-religious groups in the country, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov on Tuesday held talks with the delegation of the Kurdish National Council of Syria (ENKS), led by its chairman Saud al-Mullah, the foreign ministry said.

The sides exchanged views on the current situation in Syria, taking into account the results of the congress of the Syrian national dialogue in Sochi.

"The Russian side confirmed the principled position on the need to participate in the definition of Syria’s future for representatives of Syrian Kurds along with other ethno-religious groups of the population of this country," the statement of the Russian Foreign Ministry said at the meeting.

ENKS Foreign Relations Representative Kamiran Hajun earlier on Tuesday told RIA Novosti that the delegation had told Bogdanov about the desire to get representation in the Syrian constitutional commission.

In Sochi, in late January, the congress of the Syrian National Dialogue was held, which was the first since the beginning of the conflict to try to gather a wide range of participants on one negotiating platform. The main result of the congress was the decision to establish a constitutional commission, which will work in Geneva.

#4  The Alaiwite Faction, AKA Assad's faction, seem to be the only people that are a "natural fit" with the Kurds as allies. The Turks, Iranians, Sunni Arabs, and the Iraq government all have incentives to dance on their graves. ...And "our" US State Department has been bought and paid for by the Arabists for a long, long time.

#2  Russia, doing the job the US should be doing regarding the Kurds.

President Trump needs to get the state department cleaned out. With napalm if nexccesary. Its the previous decades of Ivy League socialists and upper crust grifting snobs that have made it rotten. While they run state, we screw our best allies while appeasing our enemies, nothing has changed since Obama and Hillary and Kerry increased the rot in State.
