Three Iraqi soldiers wounded in Islamic State attack at borders with Syria
Anbar (IraqiNews.com) Three Iraqi soldiers were wounded on Thursday repelling an attack by Islamic State militants on the borders with Syria, a frontier guards source was quoted saying.
Alsumaria News quoted the source saying that “an attack by Daesh (Islamic State) from Syria on border guards on the borderline with Syria”. He added that “the foiling of the attack caused material and human losses among Daesh, as well as the injury of three border guards personnel 460 Km west of Ramadi”.
Iraqi military arrests two Islamic State members after sneaking from Syria
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Two Islamic State members were arrested in an ambush by the Iraqi intelligence, after they infiltrated into the country coming from Syria, the Iraqi military said on Thursday.
In a statement, Brig. Gen. Yahia Rasool, spokesperson for the Security Media Center, said the military intelligence department “managed to arrest two militants while sneaking via the Iraqi-Syrian borders coming from Tal Hemeis in Syria.”
One of the militants, according to Rasool, “is wanted for judiciary over terrorism charges, along with his brother, father and three uncles. The other militants used to work for Islamic State’s Islamic Police, before he fled toward Syria.
