| #4 magpie, exactly. We are watching the slow-motion settling of that issue right now. Either the member states dissolve or they withdraw. Why be part of both? |

| #3 If the EU is a nation state then why have archaic Westphalian conglomerations like the UK, Spain, or... hell, pretty much every European nation state is composed of ethnic groups forced into shotgun marriages. Only the Czechs and Slovaks have had the sanity to have an amicable divorce. |

| #2 Crumbling? I suspect Catalonia would simply join the EU as a member state. I think that's Scotland's plan. Pride is a wonderful thing but you gotta suck on someones teet. |
