#2  Sixyears ago, the technology was only an idea presented at a TEDx talk. Boyan Slat, the 18-year-old presenter, had learned that cleaning up the tiny particles of plastic in the ocean could take nearly 80,000 years.
But, golly gee whiz, if you build an entire fleet of ships it could only take 4 to 5 years. Maybe. For varying assumptions on what the meaning of the word 'fleet' is.
