As I have said in the past, everyone's favorite fascist, David Hogg is taking money from Bloomberg, because everything he says, chapter and verse, is from Everytown's Christmas shopping list. Now he gets a platform at 18, with the new book he is writing.
But for comedy relief, let us look into a bit of satire involving Hogg, courtesy of Rantburg.com's resident book reviewer, swksvolFF:

All in all, a real page turner. Interesting reinterpretation of the reference section, instead substituting a very clever paper doll presentation. Also, the fifteen pages of hashtags are helpful. Grab your favorite gallon and a half of cheap vodka, a pitcher of kool-aid, and two days of sick leave bracketing the week end; you will have a time you will never forget. As I say, Moar Hogg!
Dick's Sporting Goods will destroy whatever ARs they have taken from their shelves, the subtext being their wholesalers refused to take them back. I suspect part of the reason may be the ATF paperwork and expense of returning the ARs, but it could be something else.

Had not thought of this angle. Explains why dsg had such a long lag time from pulling the guns from the shelves and announcing their destruction of their inventory.
My guess is that the manufacturers told this DB where to go when he tried to return them for refund (he just created a huge shortage they now have the opportunity to fill) and that he KNEW that, because we are watching him very, very carefully, if he sold them on he would be absolutely filleted in the press and personal media.
In response I said:
The gun manufacturers could have taken the rifles back, re-marked the AR as something like "American Revolution II", sold them to Dick's competitors at a premium. Just refusing to take them back is very dumb, IMMHO.
But thinking about it, this was my last thought on the issue:
Not even with a heavy restocking fee? I think wholesalers and gun manufacturers are running scared now that the money people are threatening their businesses. They think they will be the last ones to be destroyed when in fact they are in the express lane to be destroyed.
It's all going south for gun ownership free from governmental interference.
