Syrian officer: Israel-US cyberattack triggered missile defenses
2018-04-17 | |||
A false alarm caused by a "joint electronic operation" carried out by Israel and the US led to the firing of air defenses missile over Syria overnight Monday, a commander of militia forces supporting the regime said.
Large kabooms were heard near Al Shayrat Air base in Homs province, and in eastern Qalamoun near Damascus, where two other air bases are located, the Syrian Observatory for Human rights reported.

#12 Ah the deadly radar holograms were projected. (It seems possible if unlikely.) |

#11 Could have been a Cyber attack but also sounds like something like an AWAC or something sending false echos on the radar frequency. |

#10 In the old fashioned way, when everybody's screen turns to fuzz, you run outside and start shooting up in the air just in case. With the new one, you call the IT guy and go get a cup of coffee. |

#9 A false alarm caused by a "joint electronic operation" carried out by Israel and the US led to the firing of air defenses missile From what I've read (and bearing in mind I don't know squat about this), the last time the Juice waxed a nuke plant, they were able to 'inject' signals into the air defense radars that created the appearance of a bajillion attackers. In response, the radars were shut down (or rebooted if they were running Windows) This is a clever step up from 'normal' electronic countermeasures that just blast a lot of noise at the radars and create a big fuzzball on the screen to hide the attack. |

#8 Makes me more and more confident that the Network-Centric Theory in general, and the F-35 in particular, is the Wave of the Future! (/sarc) Not! |

#6 So, in other words, the missile defenses were activated and all missiles launched. AFTER the radars indicated 100% interception, everyone from Damascus to Moscow started patting themselves on the back. THEN the REAL attack commenced. |

#4 Hey Ahmad, it it was an Israeli attack you wouldn't even know it happened until long after the explosions. |

#1 "..Russian experts were brought in.." Kaspersky, no doubt. I can't believe some people still use them for PC "security". |
